Eleven clubs in the German football league launched a new premium video broadcast for the 2010/2011 season. Telekom Deutschland GmbH is both the founder and principal of the relaunch of the central platform. The concept, design and technical implementation for the paid content video portals, which have been developed in close collaboration with the clubs, are provided by the IPTV experts TVNEXT Solutions and their agency partners, exozet.

Since the 2010 season, football fans have been able to follow their favourite teams on the Internet on portals specifically designed for each club, and which can be independently edited and updated. FC St. Pauli, Mainz 05 and Borussia Mönchengladbach are among the teams that use the technical platform provided by Telekom.

Seconds after the final whistle, the full 90-minute league games of the various clubs are placed on the video portals as paid content. In addition, there are match day highlights, game previews and post-match analysis, depending on the video input, and exclusive videos of friendly matches, press conferences and player profiles. The user can quickly find the relevant match video using the recent new fixture search option.
TVNEXT and the agency exozet interact developed the technical solution, the totally new interface and usability concept, design and complete front-end for the portals. The large-scale integrated TVNEXT video player is at the core of the implementation, and replaces the previous system that used Windows Media Player. The Flash technology which, besides the advantage of ease of use, also provides significantly greater reach, and news and information on current live streams can be displayed with great flexibility in interactive layers.
TVNEXT VIDEO MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The multi-client TVNEXT Video Management System supports the individual video portals of the club as the central publishing system, and manages the entire content publication, including the workflows, to incorporate the externally produced video content. Each club has its own access to its specific system to ensure editorial management of the content and to manage the platform requirements accordingly. TVNEXT and exozet have incorporated the PayOne and ConCardis payment systems for the subscriber-based retrieval of videos provided as paid content. Users can therefore choose from a secure range of payment methods (credit cards, direct debit). League match videos will be delivered by the production company Plazamedia and imported automatically. All other content will be made available to the clubs direct via the Video Management System. An iPhone app will be played out simultaneously for each club from the TVNEXT Video Management System. Fans can also use the clubs’ videos as mobile applications on the iPhone. The apps developed for the clubs will be supplied by the TVNEXT VMS using the relevant mobile video format, and users can view the 25 most recent videos of each club.
